GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION(GRE)

TESTS INFORMATION
GRE(Graduate Record Examination):
Mainly consists of Three sections:
1.Quantitative:Two such sections in the test.
Each with 20 questions,35 minutes.
Five types of questions:

i) Quantitative Comparison:
Col A and Col B are given.
Col A is greater than Col B (A)
Col A is less than Col B (B)
Col A is equal to Col B (C)
Cant be determined.(D).
Totally 16 such questions appear.

ii) Problem Solving:
A question is given and 5 options are provided: A, B,C ,D and E.
Totally 12 such questions appear.

iii) Numeric Entry:
A question is given and a box is provided. A student has to input his answer in that box.
Totally 4 such questions appear.

iv) Multiple Answers:
Questions with more than one answer appear. Click all appropriate answers.

v) Data Interpretation
A graph or a chart is provided and 3 questions are asked.

Verbal Reasoning:
Mainly there are two types of Questions:
i) Sentence Completion
ii) Reading comprehension.

Sentence Completion again is sub divided into two question types:
A) Text Completion(One Blank): In this type of question, a blank is provided, and 5 answer choices are provided, it is reasonable to expect 2 questions of this type.
B) Text completion(Two Blank): In this type of question, two blanks are provided with three options of each blank. One can expect 3 questions of this type.
C) Text Completion( Three Blank):In this type of question, three blanks are provided,with three options

Reading Comprehension:
A passage is provided, ranging from small size to a large one ,each with 1,2 or more questions.
The peculiarity of these questions is one or more options may be right. Typically, boxes will appear in front of options and a student has to click all possible options.
Some questions may ask you to highlight a portion of the passage which performs a particular function like answering a question.

ANALYTICAL WRITING ASSESSMENT(AWA)
Likely to be the first section to appear on the GRE, consists of two major parts ,Argument and Issue both Accounting for 6 points each .
Issue task is nothing but presenting your own opinion on an idea of general interest. The topic could be general, academic, social ,political or a combination of these types. A student has to type an essay reflecting his own perspective on the idea. He has to provide examples in support of his opinion. 30 minutes are provided .
The other task, Argument is the one in which the opinion of an individual is given and a student has to critique the given opinion by highlighting the logical flaws in them. The essay has to also emphasize on how the argument could have been more convincing. Time is 30 minutes.
