IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Required for admission and immigration to UK, Australia, CANADA, New Zealand, Germany and recently USA. Eligibility: Graduate in any discipline and 10 + 2. Total score: 9.0. The test contains four parts:

(1) Reading - 9.0 band;
(2) Writing - 9.0 band;
(3) Listening - 9.0 band; and
(4) Speaking - 9.0 band.

1. Reading: 3 passages along with 38-40 questions are given to be answered in 60 minutes.

2. Writing: A student is given two writing tasks with 20 and 40 minutes each.

3. Listening: A student is exposed to about 4 speeches in the British slang and questions are asked on that speech. Typically, 28-30 minutes are allotted for this section.

4. Speaking: This section involves a self introduction by the student and a cue card gives the speaking task to each student. An evaluator may be present to observe the student in this section. An interaction with the evaluator cannot be ruled out. The section may last for about 12 minutes.

The exam runs for about 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Test Registration Fee: Rs.11,500/- (Subject to change without notice).

Examination:
Conducted up to 4-5 times in a month at 8 different locations across India.

British Council and IDP conduct this test.
